This holiday home is a spacious and comfortable two-bedroom apartment on ground floor of an architecturally significant building. The street is one of the grandest streets in the West End. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the major tourist attractions, festival venues, shops, nightlife and transport connections. The tram stop for Edinburgh Airport is a short walk away at the West End/Princes Street tram stop.

The living room is dual aspect including a bay window with a large leather sofa and leather easy chairs. There's a dining table in the living room which converts into a pool table. The kitchen is well provided with crockery, cutlery, glasses and kitchenware. Bedroom one has a king-size double bed with en-suite bathroom (bathtub with shower over). On the mezzanine level -- reached by a short staircase to a break-out area with L-shaped sofa -- is bedroom two, which also has a king-size double bed and an en-suite shower room. The main bathroom has a bathtub (with a shower attachment available). The apartment has gas central heating and the price of electricity and local taxes is included. For the comfort of future guests, the apartment is non-smoking and pets are not allowed.

The apartment is on the ground floor with a few steps from the street to reach the main door. For bedroom two there's a short flight of stairs.

Walker Street is situated in Edinburgh's leafy West End. The West End has an array of small independent shops, and Princes Street, the New Town and the Old Town are all just a short walk away. It is well placed for the main galleries and museums and is a 5-minute walk from Edinburgh Haymarket railway station and tram stop. It’s a short and pleasant walk to the Royal Mile and the Castle via Princes Street Gardens, Lothian Road and the Grassmarket, or the Mound.

Haymarket station is a few minutes' walk away and it has excellent connections for day trips to Glasgow, Stirling Castle, and the coast for walks, etc. Haymarket tram stop gives direct access to Edinburgh Airport, and also to the East End and onwards by bus to Leith and other parts of the city.

The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is a short walk or bus ride away and houses the outstanding national collection of modern and contemporary art. You can also walk to the Gallery of Modern Art via the Water of Leith walkway. The Water of Leith is Edinburgh’s hidden natural asset. Flowing for 24 miles from its source in the Pentland Hills, the river winds its way through the heart of the city to its outflow in Leith. The river can be explored on foot or bike along the Water of Leith Walkway and it is accessed from the end of Magdala Crescent (one street from Coates Gardens) or from Belford Bridge. For those who enjoy "the rural in the city", it's a very pleasant walk through to Dean Village and to Stockbridge and then up into the New Town.

Walker Street is only a few minutes' walk from the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). It's also a great location to enjoy the city's cultural life: along Lothian Road are Lyceum TheatreUsher HallTraverse Theatre and Filmhouse (home of the Edinburgh International Film Festival). The King’s Theatre and Cameo Cinema are also nearby. Many of these venues serve the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe.

In the other direction is the New Town. The New Town was laid out in the early eighteenth century and encompasses the geometric streets between Great King Street to the north and Princes Street to the south and Broughton Street to the east and Charlotte Square to the west; it is a complete contrast to the medieval irregularity of the Old Town. The New Town is mainly residential but there are lots of independent shops, galleries, bars and restaurants to discover, especially around Dundas Street, Thistle Street and Broughton Street. Charming William Street is well known for its specialist shops and popular pubs. You can walk to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, which houses the outstanding national collection of modern and contemporary art, from the beginning of the twentieth century and post-war, including Matisse, Picasso, Francis Bacon, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, Lucian Freud, Antony Gormley, Gilbert & George, Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. The other National Galleries are also in the city centre; these galleries are the Scottish National Gallery, which holds the national collection of fine art from the early Renaissance to the end of the nineteenth century, including masterpieces from Raphael, El Greco, Velázquez, Rubens, Van Gogh, Monet, Cézanne, Degas and Gauguin, and the National Portrait Gallery, which tells the story of Scotland and her people through a wealth of imagery including portraits of famous historical figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots, Prince Charles Edward Stuart and Robert Burns, through to more recent pioneers in science, sport and the arts.

Princes Street has mostly high-street brand names, whereas George Street and Multrees Walk (across St Andrew Square from George Street) offer a more upmarket retail experience. St John’s churchyard, at the junction of Lothian Road and Princes Street, is home to the annual Festival West End Craft, Art and Design Fair.

Getting there

The apartment is about a 5-minute walk from the tram stop "West End / Princes Street" (which runs directly from/to Edinburgh Airport) and a 20-minute walk from the main railway station (Waverley Station). We will send you detailed directions before your arrival.

For those arriving by car, there is metered parking on Walker Street and surrounding streets, though the maximum parking period is 2 hours. Parking on meters and single-yellow lines is free from 6.30pm to 7.30am; please check on-street signage for exact times of parking restrictions; parking is forbidden at all times on double-yellow lines.

Edinburgh has an efficient public transport system run by Transport for Edinburgh. Trams and buses run throughout the city from early morning till midnight, after which there is a reduced night service. Lothian Regional Transport's information office is on Waverley Bridge.

  • “This is a dramatic property: big living rooms, bold furnishings, a very well-equipped kitchen, two big bedrooms and three baths. It is located in a good neighborhood with many other large town houses. Plenty of cafes and shopping just a short walk away. Martin, the property manager, is very responsive, very flexible, friendly, and communicates clearly. For example, we had need to make alternate arrangements for our arrival and Martin made sure everything worked out. We enjoyed staying here.”

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent in the apartment and the beds are the most heavenly I have ever slept on! You have everything on your doorstep. Martin was a great host, very helpful and answered any queries promptly. I can't wait to stay again!”

  • “We already miss this spacious and comfortable home. Felt so homey with the Texas pillows since we’re from Houston. It’s much bigger in person than in pictures, and check-in was super easy. Had everything the three of us needed. Felt like a safe neighborhood even at night. I picked it since I needed to attend an event at the International Conference Center, which is only a 12-15 minute walk. Actually, we walked everywhere and when we got too tired we rode the taxi or used Uber, which were very affordable. Comfy king size beds, sofas, chairs, tons of books, well equipped kitchen and my friend loved that Netflix was available. Wi-Fi works best in the kitchen, foyer, and living room. The property isn’t brand new but well maintained, clean, charming and spacious… may not be suitable for handicap due to stairs and bathtubs. Communication with Martin is excellent and we had no problems the entire week. Wish we were still there!”

  • “Spacious and beautiful place to have as a home base while exploring Edinburgh. In fact, the place is so nice, some nights we debated going out at all! It was great for just the two of us, but could easily accommodate four. Safe and quiet neighborhood, but not too far from the action. Absolutely perfect. Also, great communication throughout booking, check-in, and check-out – thanks Martin. Highly recommend on all fronts.”

Amazing lounge & dining area, fully functional kitchen though we didn't do any clothes washing. Everything you needed for a great base. Easy access to anywhere, the Tram just at the end of the road plus easily accessed buses. Super variety of very good local bars eateries, restaurants ... Overall we had the most fantastic Edinburgh escape at a very wonderful appartment, great value for money better priced than via other Rental sites. • “The flat is just great, much bigger than how it shows in the photos, really nicely decorated and perfectly equipped. Two large bedrooms with king plus size beds. Three bathrooms, one enormous living room and another smaller one on the mezzanine. Great kitchen and kitchen appliances. Located in a quite but central part of town. Highly recommended. Probably the best B&B I have stayed – and I have tried quite a few.”

The kitchen is well-equipped and big, and the bedrooms are comfortable, each with ensuite, as well as another bathroom on the ground floor. The location is excellent for the tram and walking into town, as well as local bars and restaurants and supermarkets. Also a short walk from the beautiful Water of Leith and Dean Village. • “Great apartment with plenty of space, located right in the heart of the West End, just a moments walk from great bars, restaurants and shops and only a few minutes from the main sites and convenient for trams / buses too. Despite all the above, it’s very peaceful at night. The apartment was clean and well equipped. Nice touches include a decent coffee maker (as others have noted) and TV with plenty of channels if you’re so inclined. Would happily stay again.”

  • “This apartment in the perfect location for visiting Edinburgh and is a really lovely base. Easy access to all the major attractions, good walks and great food (thank you Ciao Roma and The Witchery). The apartment has everything you need & is extremely comfortable. There is limited parking outside for unloading (use the Ringo app) & we then left the car at Newcraighall Station for the week at a huge cost of £3.50! Train to Waverley cost £2.90. Couldn't fault anything and communication through Martin was excellent.”

  • “This apartment really has the wow factor: high ceilings, elegant touches and everything you need for a relaxing break. The location is perfect and although you are close to all the attractions the road is very quiet. The apartment was clean and very well stocked, beds are really comfy and the space is perfect. Thank you we had a great weekend and would definitely recommend.”

  • “Fantastic place to stay in a great location: Absolutely loved staying in this flat. It is huge! Location in the West End is ideal for exploring Edinburgh. Bars and shops within 5 minutes walk. Beds are super comfortable. Living room is huge with a dining table that converts to a small snooker table. Kitchen has everything you need with an especially excellent coffee machine. Lots of channels on the TV. Would definitely stay again and cannot recommend highly enough for a visit to Edinburgh. So much better than staying in an expensive and small hotel room.”

  • “Absolutely amazing place to stay, slap bang in the middle of the West End of Edinburgh. Super comfy beds. Loved the pool table and the high spec kitchen. The coffee machine was a particular highlight. Great channels on the TV. The whole place was much bigger than I expected. I would stay again in a heartbeat and would definitely recommend.”

  • “This was by far the most beautiful [apartment] I have ever stayed in. It is even bigger than the photos suggest. Both bedrooms are ensuite, and there is a third bathroom downstairs. The host responds very quickly to questions and we received the keys well in time before we travelled. The beds are large and very comfortable, and this [apartment] is in a quiet street but in walking distance of all the main attractions. The tram to the airport is only a few minutes walk. And the host even organized perfect weather for us. I did not want to leave!”

  • “This location is absolutely amazing! Great value. Great amenities. West End value at its finest. We would gladly recommend to anyone who asks us where to stay in Edinburgh ... Martin was great at communication, which we greatly appreciated since we are international travellers. We will definitely use this [apartment] again.”

  • “Loved it! This place is fantastic: extremely spacious and beautiful. It is so much larger than most European flats: I was blown away by all the space! The pictures make it look big, but it’s even larger than it appears. It has 3 bathrooms, as the bedroom on the mezzanine has an en-suite with a shower. There are also 2 other bathrooms on the main floor. The kitchen is great, the beds are comfortable, and the communication is outstanding. I used the washing machine and it worked very well. I will definitely recommend this flat to others. The location was within very easy walking distance of Princes Street, only 2 blocks from the tram to the airport, and about a 15-20 minute walk to the Royal Mile (and we weren’t walking fast, but ambling to take in the scenery). It’s a great value, and feels like your own home in Edinburgh!”
