Living room

Living room

  • sleeps one to four; three double bedrooms
  • living room with bay window, separate dining kitchen
  • family bathroom
  • on-street parking
  • city centre 30 minutes by frequent bus service

This spacious accommodation in a comfortable upper flat has free on-street parking nearby and regular bus services to the city centre. The front garden leads to the main door, through which a flight of stairs leads to all the accommodation. A hallway gives access to all the rooms. There are three double bedrooms, a large living-room, a separate dining room, a well-appointed kitchen, and a private garden. The bathroom has a bathtub with shower over, a WC and hand basin. Access is via an internal stair from the ground level.

The apartment has gas central heating / hot water, and the price of electricity and local taxes is included.

This house is an ideal base from which to explore the city. Free onstreet parking means you can leave your car behind and at the end of the street hop on one of the many buses in to town, which in 20 or 30 minutes take you to the heart of the city. We recommend that you buy day tickets (buy one on your first bus of the day) so that you can take as many buses and trams as you like over the course of the day (there's also a special day ticket to include the airport). Or if you feel up to it and want to experience more of the city, you can walk to town via Morningside Road, Bruntsfield Place and The Meadows. The Meadows were originally under water: the Burgh Loch, which was drained in 1740, was one of Edinburgh’s main water supplies. The area is now one of the city’s biggest green spaces, ideal for jogging, walking and other sports. There are public tennis courts, a children’s playpark and Bruntsfield Links Golf Course, one of the oldest courses in the world, where you can have a round of pitch-and-putt. Greenbank Drive is also close to the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill, home of the Royal Observatory
Greenbank Drive is in the popular area of Morningside, well known for its village atmosphere. There is a great variety of independent and specialist shops in the area, and a stroll down Morningside Road or Bruntsfield Place (next area after Morningside on the way in to town) will let you discover them for yourself. There are many cafés, restaurants and bars to choose from (click here for some suggestions). The Canny Man’s at 237 Morningside Road, with its Victorian interior crammed with curios and antiques, is one of the best-known pubs in Edinburgh. On the way to Bruntsfield you’ll pass Holy Corner, so called because of the churches that stand on each corner of the junction, the famous Luca's gelateria and chocolatier and the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre (which offers drop-in classes).
Greenbank Drive is a great location to enjoy the city's cultural life: on the way in to Princes Street, you pass the King’s TheatreCameo CinemaFilmhouse (home of the Edinburgh International Film Festival), Lyceum TheatreUsher Hall and Traverse Theatre; just round the corner on Morningside Road, the Church Hill Theatre (a former church building) has local amateur theatre companies put on productions throughout the year and is a Fringe venue during the Edinburgh Festivals. Further down Morningside Road on Newbattle Terrace is the Dominion Cinema, a small independent cinema with allegedly the comfiest seats in the country in its Gold Class lounge. Many of these venues serve the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe.

Getting there

The house is about 30-40 minutes by frequent bus service from both the Airport Express Bus Terminus and the main railway station (Waverley Station). There are frequent buses from bus stops on Greenbank Terrace. We will send you detailed directions before your arrival.

For those arriving by car, there is free on-street parking on Greenbank Drive and surrounding street.

Edinburgh has an efficient public transport system run by Transport for Edinburgh. Trams and buses run throughout the city from early morning till midnight, after which there is a reduced night service. Lothian Regional Transport's information office is on Waverley Bridge.

  • “After a torrid journey to get here through bad weather, we were delighted to find such a warm, welcoming and comfortable flat awaiting us. Excellent bus links to the city centre mean it's an easy journey to the city for all the sights. Thoroughly enjoyed out stay.”
